A low season trip to Costa Blanca

A low season trip to Costa Blanca

The new year is here. What better time to plan for a vacation, now that we’re back to work and the thought of summer still seems like a distant dream? A low season trip to Costa Blanca, however, is the choice of hundreds of people who know that traveling smart and cheap actually entails avoiding the busy months of summer.

Costa Blanca in Spain is an idyllic place where it’s not uncommon to enjoy sunshine and temperatures well above 20 degrees Celsius in January. And while the rest of Europe and “the world” is dormant, in a frozen state (literally), wouldn’t it be amazing to escape to the beach?

Benidorm is particularly renowned for its wide, welcoming beaches with fine sand and many facilities. Levante and Poniente are two such beaches, but also in Benidorm you can opt for a family day in Aqualandia, where there is ample entertainment in store for all ages in an amusement park that you will simply love.

I always admire the architecture of a place – I have always thought it speaks volumes about the spirit of the people and the history of the place. One of the most emblematic monuments in the region is the Santa Barbara Castle in Alicante. Its origins go back 12 centuries, to the Moorish rule over the Iberian Peninsula. Reconquered by Alfonso of Castile in 1248, the castle was named after the Christian Saint and rebuilt. The setting of the castle is very dramatic, perched on the top of a mountain. Its summit is not very hard to reach on foot, if you are reasonably fit.

Last but certainly not least, the Costa Brava is renowned for its active lifestyle – and for its nightlife – so there are restaurants and bars galore to wander through. And if you are tired of walking, you can book an Alicante airport transfer or rent a car in Alicante online.
