Romania, the ultimate low cost skiing destination

The Carpathian Mountains have recently come to prominence for their wild unspoilt beauty and for the wildlife they harbor and so has the country with the most bears, wolves and foxes in the entire Europe. That’s right: today we are going to be talking about Romania, the ultimate low cost skiing destination.

You cannot make an opinion about Romania unless you have been there at least once. It is a sincere and personal experience and, since winters are generally long, cold and snowy in the mountains there, you have the opportunity to practice some of your favorite winter sports on the numerous slopes scattered around the mountainous region.

Maramures is one of the most beautiful regions in Romania, a realm beyond time where you will encounter a traditional Romania with wonders and stories galore to tell. You will also have some skiing options, one of the most important of which being the slopes of Baia Sprie and Cavic, a bit farther ahead. You can lodge with the locals and you will be treated with the traditional Romanian hospitality.

Brasov is an inter-cultural experience, because it is a city built in the Middle Ages by the Saxons. Its architecture and ethnic diversity are testimony of the century-old cohabitation of several cultures. It is also a beautiful region, at the heart of the Carpathian Mountains. Poiana Brasov is a very popular tourist resort, one of the most sought after in this side of Europe, as a matter of fact. Here, you are welcome to choose from a wide variety of winter sports, you can also enjoy restaurants and just being outside, in the fresh mountain air or playing in the snow with your friends or with your family.

Last but certainly not least, you are most encouraged to rent a car in Bucharest and, after taking a ride through the capital city, to drive to the Prahova Valley and make a stop in the beautiful Sinaia resort.
