Golf in Portugal – Part 1

One thing any person coming to Portugal will observe is that the country is seductively warm and sunny; the people are equally welcoming. What may not look so evident, but is still a fact is that Portugal is a great place for sports; one of the favorite pastime for people coming to vacation here is Golf in Portugal, so this is what we are going to talk about today!

We were saying Portugal is a great place for sports. Predictably enough, some of these are water sports. A lot of people crowd the shores of Nazare, for instance, to do surfing and to swim in the cool waters of the Atlantic Ocean.

But there are also a lot of outdoors physical sports to be practiced on land. For once, the Portuguese love football and they have quite a few teams to brag with. But there is also a more discreet and a bit elitist sport that is often practiced by tourists more than by locals in Portugal. This is golf.

Why are there so many golf options in Portugal? Firstly, because the weather is so lovely. Portugal enjoys warm and sunny weather throughout the year and the Algarve, the sunny southern seaside region of Portugal, has some of the most beautiful such days – over 300 days of sun per annum.

Portugal, just like Spain and some say more than Spain, has some of the best golf courses in Europe and the world. World golf tournaments take place every season in Portugal. Of course, a series of connex services have developed around the golfing activity. Some of these are golf transfers, private transport options meant to take one from their hotel to the golf course of choice. There are also golf club hire online options – basically you can hire your golf clubs anywhere in Portugal, which is great, since it is a bit hard to travel with them by plane.

So do you want to golf in Portugal?
