The movie is based on a book by hero Heinrich Harrer, the Austrian traveler and mountain climber who finds himself in the Forbidden City of Lhasa to become the teacher and friend of the last Dalai Lama. This is a beautiful book that will transport you to an exotic realm of tradition.
6. J. R. R. Tolkien and his Middle-Earth universe could not be absent from this list. Bilbo Baggins embarks on his first adventure in The Hobbit, a prequel to the famous “Lord of the Rings” franchise. The cute and funny hobbits are always fun travel companions. You can join them as well as you travel to your own, more realistic adventures.

Kerstin Gier’s Precious Stones Trilogy follows Gwyneth Shepherd as she seeks love and adventure fluctuating between the past and the present-day England. It is a teen book that can be read by anyone.
