10 Tips for a successful trip – Part 1

After lots of years traveling the world in search of… that simple thrill of just discovering a new place and seeing life in so many forms with my own eyes, I thought I could share with you 10 Tips for a successful trip.

I don’t consider myself an expert in traveling, but sometimes doing something you enjoy doing makes it easy to share pertinent information; and commonsensical information, I guess. So from my personal

experience, here are 10 points you should cover if you want to have a great trip:

10. Don’t forget to take your documents. It sounds a bit absurd, but unfortunately many people forget to take their passport or ID, and discovering that in the airport is a bit of a disaster. Also, check the expiry date! Also, be sure to have all your vouchers (such as international car hire or low cost airport transfers) and plane tickets with you and keep them close.

9. Be sure to take some money with you and always check the local currency. Also, if you use cards, be sure your type of card functions at local ATM’s. Mastercard and Visa transactions charge 1% more for international transactions and there’s an additional conversion fee. In some circumstances, it’s better to carry cash in the local currency.

8. Travel light. In all my years of wandering through the world, this is the lesson I still have trouble learning. I’ve started carrying less and less luggage over the years, but I still haven’t attained that perfect state of taking no useless items. So pack a few clothes, take your gadgets and their respective chargers, maybe a book and a few aspirins and that should be it!

7. Make a general plan: where you’ll be staying, what you’d like to visit and what transport options there are, as well as a budget estimate and you are done. Enough advice for today. See you next time, as we explore more travel tips!
